Hey guys, welcome back to another episode of Own Your Essence Podcast, where we get to have deep transformational conversations with some of our favorite people. I am your host, April DeMille, and um your co-host today is gonna be Lee. And you might be thinking to yourself, what? That's funny because I don't see him here, but um we have something fun in store for you. Uh, even though Lee isn't with us physically at the moment, um, his essence will be here because I thought it would be really fun to do a small compilation of uh my favorite moments with my buddy. Um, as you guys know, he has been here hosting before. He actually started the podcast with me originally last year. Um, and then he had some other directions he needed to go, and so did I. And so he still gets to come bless us with his presence, you know, here and there from time to time. But I, you know, there's something magical about uh the synergy between Lee and I sometimes. And so I thought it'd be, I don't know, creative and just different if we just did a little compilation of some of my favorite moments with him. So that's what we have in store for you today. I was a police officer, and um, I still at that time I was intuitive, but I didn't know that I was able to connect, you know, with higher realms or anything, not at all. Um, but when I was 11 years old, my dad, um, he was actually a chief of police down in Easton in Mass. And um he would, yeah, you know, rightly, and uh he would, I would visit him on the weekends, and um he was actually learning how to be a hypnotist on the side for hit and run cases. And uh so he would he would use me as his guinea pig, and I would sit there and he'd say, Okay, Sheila, close your eyes, and it'd get me into a meditative state. And I just thought everybody did that with their dad. I didn't realize um that I was starting to connect and uh go into that unseen world of energy, you know. So later on, uh, when I had my daughter, um actually I had just left policing because I was a stay-at-home mom, and that was more to me than anything. Um I uh I'll tell you, oh my god, you have to hear that. Are you ready for a great story? Absolutely. Always okay. This is the best story. This is really how it happened. So my sister-in-law was very new age, right? And of course, I didn't believe in anything like that. And one time I was on my phone in my bedroom. Um, I was talking to her on the phone, and all of a sudden my daughter was with me. She was about a year old, running around the room, and it was nighttime, and all of a sudden I heard lightning outside. And I'm like, oh my God, is it lightning and thunder? Y'all how? She's like, No, I'm like, oh, that's weird. And I went over to the window and it was raining. But when I went to the window, went to shut the window, the rain stopped. I'm like, that was weird. So I stopped, you know. So I went back and laid on the bed. And at the end of my bed was uh a doorway to go in the bathroom. And I'm sitting there like this, talking to her. And all of a sudden, me and my daughter both saw there was this light in the bathroom uh about four feet high. And so here's the tree right here. It went around like this and went like that. So I'm like, oh my god, it was like a ball of light. She's like, what is more? I'm like, uh, I was afraid to talk because I was afraid it would see me, right? Because it was like hiding from me. And she was like, Are you seeing ghosts? And I'm thinking, I don't know. And all of a sudden, this is Yeah. I lifted up and just flew across the room and my daughter watched it, and that was it. So next thing I know, a couple months later, I get this gift certificate from my sister-in-law for Christmas, meet your spirit guide class, right? And I'm thinking, she's out of her flipping mind. I'm not going to read the white. Yeah. I'm like, no, thank you, right? So I take the gift certificate and I put it in the cupboard and I said, Yeah, right, whatever. So a year later rolls by, and I'm like, I was kind of scared of her because she's very blunt. And I said to her, I said, Yeah, I better go to that class, right? Before Christmas comes. Uh so I I made the appointment and I get in the classroom, and it's it's one of these new age shops. They're more prominent up in Massachusetts more than here in Florida, I noticed. You know, I guess it's the it's so different up there than it is down here where I'm at right now. But, anyways, um, so I get in the classroom and the lady's sitting there, and what does she do? She takes us into meditation, and I said, Oh my God, I know how to do this. So I get, I go in the meditation, this and that. And when I get deep into the meditation, it starts taking off for me. I'm seeing things that I'm not subconsciously thinking, this and that. And I came out crying, like, oh my God, this shit is real, right? And I'm like, oh my God, right? And so, and I and I have to I have to let you know, before I went in, I prayed to Mary and Jesus and everybody, all the saints. I said, please, if I'm not supposed to see anything, if this is dark people, don't let me see anything, shut me down. And the opposite happened. And so, yeah, so from there I started taking classes, this and that, and it just happened for me. And I came home and I told my husband, I feel bad for him. I said, I have to do this. He goes, You have to do what? And I said, I have to do mediumship. He goes, What's that? And I said, Well, you know, it's like readings and stuff. He's like, Oh, great. You know, he was a police officer too, right? And I'm like, you know, it's okay, you can divorce me if you need to, because I totally get it. Because I was a skeptic too. I said, but if I don't do this, I'll die. I mean, it came that strong in me. Yeah. And and when I started connecting uh through the classes, I for me it was a calling. It was like, if I didn't do this, I might as well just give it up now. You know, so for me, I my calling was to teach everyone how to connect. That's where my passion was towards this. And that's why I continued to learn and go to class because I wanted everyone to know that everybody's able to connect. It's not, I mean, yes, some of us, it's a calling where like I never thought in a million years I'd be doing forensics, you know. But uh it ever it's like a different piano players. You get your beginner, you got your semi-pro, and you're professional, you know. But for me, it was more about teaching people to connect to the energy. And then lo and behold, spirit gave me other things along the way that I needed to do, and one of them was forensic mediumship, you know. And so that's how what happened to me, you know.

I was actually gonna ask this earlier, Sheila. Um, it doesn't necessarily have to do with what you were just speaking about, but I'm curious because you so you were a police officer, so it sounds like in you said that you were skeptical of some of this stuff to begin with, right? And so it sounds like maybe a little more left-brained in in that sense, you know, uh maybe a bit more analytical and and all that. So I'm curious, like when you first started receiving information or you first started down this path, because I I see this so much with people and myself included, even sometimes still, where you know, I'll get in my head and I'll be like, Am I just making this up? You know, like is this and you know, that's where the evidence piece tends to come in and sort of reaffirm things and all that. But did you did you experience that?

Oh my god, yes, oh my god, I'll tell you. So in the beginning, when I first started going to mediumship class, I I'm not kidding you. Someone said to me, Are you gonna come to mediumship class? I'm like, what's that?

So I get into class and and I'm like, how do I know I I'm doubting everything I'm seeing? How do I know I'm not doubting that? And this is what I teach in my class. If you're not subconsciously thinking it, you're not you're not creating it, you know. Uh so you have to truly honestly be honest with your being, be honest with yourself. Did you subconsciously think that earlier? Did you pull that out of your records, or is spirit showing you? And how I do that is I always say, okay, spirit, show me in two different ways that I'm not thinking. Oh, yeah. Yeah. And so I trust my guides and I try to tell my students, your relationship, I'm not your teacher, I'm just your guide. Your teachers are your guides, is your higher power. You know, I said so. You're the best thing you can do is establish that relationship with your guides. And how can you do that? You have to have faith in your higher power. And once you can truly have 305 billion percent faith in your higher power, you'll have the trust. And then along with that comes the no doubt, you know, because you're establishing a relationship. But mostly for me, like even like I work alone a lot, like when I'm doing forensic. So I'll ask, I'll say, Spirit, show me something I'm not thinking, and then I'll say, Oh, yeah, I would, I wouldn't, I wasn't thinking that, you know what I mean? I'm like, so that to me is like confirmation, you know, in the sense, so that's one of the things in my blueprint that I do use, you know.

I love that. I love that I I might adopt that actually. Shall we? Please do. Yeah, yeah. Shall we in two ways that I'm not thinking? Because of course, you know, our subconscious is always, you know, in the awareness, always active. So of course, you know, our mind can get in there sometimes. And you know, I've I've heard it explained different ways about how different people individually discern, like, is this from spirit or is this you know from myself? But I really like that way of you know, show me show me two different things that I'm not thinking that aren't from my records.

So and then you have, yeah, and then you have to be brutally honest with yourself, were you thinking that subconsciously or not? You know, and that's the key. And and I and I don't know, but when I teach the students, what I love to watch is people grow as beings too, because they're being brutally honest with themselves. Are you connecting or are you not connecting? Because I can guide you to connect if you're truly honest with me. But spirits waiting for you to be honest with yourself first, right? You know what I mean? Are you subconsciously thinking? I remember in the in the beginning, that was the biggest thing for me was I'm uh I doubted what I was seeing, but everyone in the room knew exactly what I was saying, they understood their father, their grandfather, and they understand the unique things about them, and I still doubted it. I'm like, that can't be. But if these people understand it, it's something. And I'm not clearly not making it up. I didn't know that there was uh uh orange alligator in the road way by a pillow or something, you know what I mean?

There's been plenty of times that I've said, look, I'm creative, but I'm not that fucking creative. So I know it's not me. Yeah. So this one, it's kind of like two parts. So have you channeled a spirit that you know you wouldn't like or get along with in human form? And then the second part of that would be how did you handle it?

Um, yes, absolutely, many times. Um again, like on a human level, I know that we wouldn't have vibed. Um I mean, I think I just handled it like any other reading, though, because you know, there's an awareness too that now they're in spirit, so they're not in human form anymore and they're not carrying that that stuff anymore. Like the you know, the personality might come through for validation, but like it's not really, you know, it's not like they're on the other side and they're still carrying around the heavier, denser human stuff. So um, so I just treat it like any other reading, I guess, where I'm like, you know, I understand you are a certain way in life, and that's cool, you know, we're we're all different. But yeah, I mean I've I've had that thought though, for sure, where I'm like, I feel like if I came across you in human form, like I know that we definitely would not align, but but it it's it's different now as like the channeler and the you know, all of that. So um, but many times, yeah. Yeah, for sure. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, that's a good one though. I like that.

When I was physically sitting with people and I could see them, I'm like, am I just maybe picking up on like body language? And I don't know it, but again, some of the things that have come through, like you can Can I ask you real quick too?

Like, since you're on like that little thread, um, how much of this do you think is telepathy? Even if, even if like you're saying, Oh, I couldn't have picked up on this or whatever, how much of the information do you feel is possibly telepathy and being tapped in? You know what I mean?

It's a good question. Um I think I know now when I do mediumship readings, like I can discern like that I feel a soul with me, you know, and it's just a bit of a different feeling than I would say maybe telepathically getting information from somebody. Um, it can feel somewhat similar in certain ways. Um, because I think that spirit will kind of use that sort of channel that maybe telepathy also kind of goes through. Um, yeah, you know, maybe it's like the same machine, different setting, you know what I mean? So it can feel kind of similar.

That's the best way I know how to kind of just well, and and also there's the like if you think about it, like sometimes I can kind of see it both ways because like telepathically, maybe you are at a frequency where you're pulling, initiating that information forward, right? Like you're attracting it, right? So that puts you in front of whoever needs to be read in that moment, like you're it's like magnetic, right? So you're pull you're pulling that in and you're bringing forward some very important sacred stuff. Um, and that can take on a feeling of how they felt about the person, right? Like, so it might feel like a different, different energy or something anyway. But then there's also the fact that I've had a million experiences where I've had spirits touch my hair and poke me and talk to me. And so, like, what then? You know, like I feel like that still doesn't necessarily what is that part, you know?

Right. Yeah. Um, it's interesting to kind of sit with all of that. I think, again, for me, it just like I, you know, there's there's a differentiation for me between like feeling an actual energy in my space and and maybe getting something telepathic telepathically from uh somewhere.

Um I will say too, like, I have had Spirit many times now give me information that the person that I'm sitting with doesn't even know about, you know. So um that's a good point. Right. So for me, I'm kind of like, well, if it's not even in their head to begin with, you know what I mean? Like I can't be pulling it from their awareness because they don't even know. You know, I'll say something and then they'll come back maybe a few days later or a week later and be like, so I asked, you know, this other family member, this person, or whatever, or you know, whatever it is. And you were right, or they might not have even asked someone, something might have just happened, like taking place, you know, where I'll mention something and then something will take place. Um, so so I think that has kind of led me to to, you know, it's not just pulling from someone's field or awareness.

I think it's unless it's like you're just tapped into their higher self and their higher self is so like all knowing, but still, like I can see where you would like feel the differences there too. Yeah, I know that for me, like when I've sat down to do readings, um I defin it is definitely a balance because um because I am tapped in telepathically and I know I can hear people's thoughts a lot of times, and this is not at will. I do not do this at will. This is not a this is not a disciplined skill. It's kind of like, do you know what scrying is?

Okay, I do that all the time too, and that is also not will. It's just one of those things that I just am able to access and I don't even know what the fuck I'm doing. Like it's just one of those things that happens accidentally. So the telepathy for me when I'm sitting with a reading is kind of tricky because like I can pick up on some of the thoughts and the and the wants and the feelings, and I have to discern between that and what the most probable path is that's coming forward, or whatever the information and that and it's it can be a nice little balancing act. And for me, that is sometimes why it can be such energetic work too, and kind of taxing on our end, because there is so much balancing happening.

Yeah, you definitely have to be discerning, I think, and and yeah, doing the balancing act. Um, because like you said, I you know, I can pick up on things just in people's awareness. Um, not the same for me as mediumship, but it is something that happens. Um I I think to add to what I said before, too, to what I said before, like it's just more obvious, I guess, to me, that there's like a communication happening, like not between me and the person I'm sitting with, but me and this other consciousness, you know. Um and it it does, it just feels like we're communicate and we're connecting, and there's a conversation happening, and there's you know a dialogue that's not like me and you were talking, but like in a way of like there is another presence that is with us in the room that you know, it's it's just clear to me that this is a communication that's that's going on here.

Well, and I'd like to use a little bit of my own private story with that. I um recently, this was recently actually like maybe what two months ago. So you didn't know that I had a stepbrother that had committed suicide a couple years ago. And um, and I he was like in life, he was fun, he was amazing, like he was all the things, loved him to death. Um he looked up to me so much, like there was such a great connection between us, and so in death, he was always bugging me, like, hey, I'm here, like it's you just the same energy, but you didn't know that, and you had no idea, like it's not something we'd ever talked about. And one day you were like, I have I have this energy, and he what was the song? It was Afroman. Oh my god, yeah, yeah, it was Afro Man, yeah, it was me. So it was like he was like, and you just randomly like you just messaged me without even knowing that the connection was to me. Yeah, and he had actually been bugging me for like three days, solid straight at that point. And he does it off and on.
